As 2019 comes to a close, I am feeling so much anticipation about the year our baby boy will make his arrival and make our little family even more complete!
2019 was full of wonderful memories: I hosted my first student teacher, submitted my National Board Certification work, we got our house mostly “finished” (are you ever really finished?)…my students and I hosted our first major event about resilience and toxic stress, and I continued that work with a few other professional presentations. We got to travel to California with some students for FCCLA National competition, and then to Arizona for our first wedding anniversary. We found out the biggest news of our lives – that we were expecting a baby – and got to share that news with family and friends. We moved schools, I was awarded Teacher of the Year at school this year, and found out recently that I did earn my National Board Certification. Wrapped up the year by spending time with family at home, relaxing, and getting as ready as we can for this little guy coming soon! So many sweet memories were had in 2019, but I know that 2020 is going to be such a new adventure altogether. This year, a new year really does bring a huge shift as we become parents for the first time! We have been truly blessed and showered in love by so many people who are important to us, and we can’t wait for everyone to get to meet our son.
In 2020, I don’t have any real resolutions; mostly I am focusing on being kind to myself as I navigate my new role as a mom, and to just make good decisions with Andrew about what is best for us and our family. I think we are going to have our hands full without making tons of other rules for ourselves, but we do both want to focus on our health as well by making better choices about what we eat and staying more active. I see lots of walks with a stroller in my future!
Whether you are someone who makes resolutions every year or not, I hope that 2020 is good to you! We will be ringing in the new year tonight with our doggies, probably in our soft clothes just hanging out on the couch 🙂 Happy New Year!
